The Washington Area Community Investment Fund (Wacif), in partnership with Citi Community Development, launched the DC Employee Ownership Initiative to preserve legacy businesses and create new pathways to entrepreneurship. To strengthen the local employee ownership ecosystem, Wacif will provide advisory services, access to capital, and convene stakeholders with the goal of helping businesses pursue conversion and supporting the growth of existing and emerging employee-owned enterprises. In 2018, Wacif was selected as the community partner organization for the DC Shared Equity in Economic Development (SEED) fellowship team. We’re working alongside three DC government agencies to create a supportive policy and regulatory environment for employee ownership.
